What is EMDR?
EMDR, or Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing, is an evidence-based treatment commonly used to treat trauma-related disorders. This treatment focuses on alleviating stress from traumatic memories by associating them with safe external stimuli such as eye movements and tapping. Traumatic memories are processed in small doses at a time. At the end of treatment, many clients experience reduced trauma-related symptoms, more insight, and improved emotional regulation.
